Park Lane turned up the political heat on Thursday 8 June along with the rest of the country. Students in Years 7, 8 and 9, went to the polls to vote for a Prime Minister of Park Lane.
This followed colourful displays, and party manifestos all being used to convince the staff and students to vote for them. There were four parties in the running – Progress, Transform, Tomorrow and Vision. Policies included changes to the behaviour systems, an ice cream parlour and funky Fridays where non uniform would be the rule!
Students were able to engage in the democratic voting processes. The political parties presented their ideas in a whole school assembly and then bravely answered unknown questions from the electorate, based on their policies.
The eventual winners were the Progress Party, however, huge congratulations have to go to all the students involved in the campaigning and those students who worked tirelessly as polling officers and chief counters.
